Applications
- Schools open for visits: September/October 2023 (please check on school websites for up to date open day/evening information)
- Applications open (apply online by clicking here): From Friday 1 September 2023
- Closing date for applications: Tuesday 31 October 2023 (we recommend that you submit your online application before the half term holiday in October. )
- Closing date for supplementary forms (if required) to be returned to the school directly: Tuesday 31 October 2023

Offers
- Results for online applications: Friday 1st March 2024 (you will get an email in the evening telling you where your child has been offered a place)
- Deadline for accepting your offer: Friday 15th March 2024 (if you applied online, you must accept the offer online – you should keep a record of your login details)
Appeals
- Closing date for appeals for community schools in the borough: Friday 29th March 2024 (admissions authorities of other schools may set the same or a later deadline)
- Appeal hearings: June/July 2024 (if you submit an appeal after 29 March 2024, it may not be heard until the start of the academic year in September 2024)
Online applications
Applications for secondary school choices can be made from 1st September 2023. The site is open until October 31st but please do aim to complete the application before this date.

Grammar schools
Lewisham does not have any grammar schools. If you are looking at a grammar school for your child they need to be registered to take the test usually before the end of June while they are in Year 5.

We recommend that you go and see as many secondary schools as you can and if possible, visit while the schools are open and the children are learning in them.

INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY APTITUDE TEST
City of London Academy specialises in Business and Enterprise, also known as Information Technology. Prospective students can complete an online Information and Technology Aptitude Test that evaluates their aptitude for Information Technology.
CoLA Southwark allocates up to 24 places (10 per cent of the cohort) each year through this test.
The Information and Technology Aptitude test will take place at the City of London Academy (Southwark).
BANDING TEST
Part of the admissions oversubscription criteria for the academy is that prospective pupils sit a Banding Test. All children who have applied for a place at CoLA must complete the Banding Test (with the exemption of EHCP and LAC students)
All those who apply for CoLA for Sept 2024 Entry will be contacted in early December with a time / location to complete this Banding Test.
