Children also have access to Epic Reading where they have free access to a vast library of online books:

Epic Reading!

We focus on 7 key reading skills - clarifying, predicting, questioning, making links, summarising, inferring and evaluating.

English

In English, we are making use of our reading text 'Thornhill' to help children take note of Pam Smy's authorial style. Children will use this to create their own horror stories.

Maths

In Maths we have begun the year by recapping on place value to 1,000,000 then moved into all four operations including mental and written strategies to support children's in-depth understanding of these essential concepts. To help you child's learning in this area, we strongly recommend that they make use of Times Tables Rockstars.

Science

As scientists, we will be looking at evolution and inheritance of traits. Children will begin learning about DNA and the role this plays alongside the physical environment in which an organism lives, on physical characteristics. Children will also study a famous scientist in this field.
